![]() But if you can't even control a Lenovo fan, then that means there's some software preventing it and you would need to use their official fan control software. If you can control a Lenovo fan, you can control an Arctic fan. Fan control is very simple and isn't gated behind anything at the hardware level. Unless they're talking about using Lenovo software, it wouldn't make sense that you had to use Lenovo hardware to control it. Idk somehow made it like you must buy their parts to make it work, not aftermarket parts Does your computer have any PWM fan? You could always just try to control that one. Without a fan on the header, it could just be disabled. Does this mean I cannot control them if I install fans in the future? Sadly, the % does not change when i manually change them. If it works with one, it'll work with all. If you already have a fan installed and it's on a PWM header, you can use LHM and see if it works with that fan. I'm not sure, I didn't even know Lenovo made motherboards lol. Its from lenovo, heard fan controls are locked but no one could give a definite answer For the Gigabyte boards that it doesn't work on, you have to use a specific build of Fan control that's made for that one board controller. Like certain Gigabyte boards or MSI boards, but it works with all ASRock boards, for example. LHM usually works with most big named motherboards, only a select few don't. The motherboard should have some way to control fans, even if you have to use either BIOS or the motherboard software from the manufacturer. I am trying to know whether my mobo allows fan control before I purchase some arctic fans That doesn't necessarily mean it'll work but if you see the duty cycle value change, it's very likely you'll be able to control the fan. If you don't have a fan connected, the fan section will stay at 0RPM because nothing is being read on the RPM pin of the header, but you can change the duty cycle of the control section. ![]() Each fan/control combo corresponds to a single fan header. Each fan is controlled by a specific control. The "fan" section shows the RPM and the control section shows the Duty Cycle. So if you download and run LHM, it'll have something similar to HW info's sensor table and under the fans there will be two sections: one for fans and one for controls. It uses Libre Hardware Monitor as its backend. But when I tried a non-RoG asus config it seemed to work correct)Ĭan FanControl detect speed sensors of cooling fans if I did not install a fan yet? Meaning, if I would enable it at 100% it would probably would turn off the cpu fan completely, due to it being at 12.5% tops when not doing anything demanding. Even if you dont find a close model, there could be any random config that will work for you (probably a good idea to at least try a config from the same brand, because when I just now tried a few acer configs, other than that those models I tested probably only have cpu fan, it showed my fans working at 134% or something like that before even enabling the fan control. Even if your model doesnt show up in the options, you could try out the closest you can get (example, I THINK I have the Asus RoG G750JW, but closest I found was G751JL, and that worked and was able to both detect and control both fans). Pick, Assemble and Install: Video Guideįound this when I was trying to find a fan controller I used on my laptop before I reinstalled windows, realized this is a sub reddit for building pc's onces I was going to make a reply for others that have issues finding a working app/program for fan control on laptops, because I found the one that always worked for me, its called NoteBook FanControl. No intentionally harmful, misleading or joke advice. ![]() No excessive posting (more than one submission in 24 hours). No selling, trading or requests for valuation. No self-promotion, advertising, begging, or surveys. No submissions about memes, jokes, meta, or hypothetical / dream builds. No titles that are all-caps, clickbait, PSAs, pro-tips or contain emoji. No submissions about retailer or customer service experiences. No submissions about sales, deals or unauthorized giveaways. No submissions about hardware news, rumors, or reviews. Please keep in mind that we are here to help you build a computer, not to build it for you.
